so after 2 weeks of practice I feel a little more at ease with the digital painting. i wanted to create an atmosphere of the ending of a journey. A traveller has crossed the canyon and found what he was looking for at the end of the canyon. everybody is free of course to imagine what could be there took me 5 hours
I don't know what bearing this might have on the piece from a critical point of view, but I've been to this canyon in a dream. My impression in the dream, was that the canyon, and the rock formations had been there for thousands of years, unchanged, as though they stand outside of time and space, like Shangri La.
This painting is truly beautiful, as well as evocative of such feelings as solace, and healing. I live in the Himalayas, so this sensation of crossing a canyon in a mountainous region is very familiar to me. I like the use of large strokes to create the impression of delicate detail. The artists sensitivity to light is very acute and it shows in the picture. One immediately has a sense of vastness as well as profundity.
My favourite detail is the little naturally formed catwalk of rock at the end of the canyon. One could almost imagine that if you passed through it, you'd step into another world. In my dream the realm of the enlightened lay just beyond the canyon. It was a gateway to the blessed. When I look at this picture, I can feel that same sense of wonderment.
Very intense and beautiful atmosphere, thanks to how soft the colors are. It has a very nostalgic feeling to it, almost like even if you named "untitled" I would still feel like an "end of a journey" was being depicted in the piece. To convey so much with such simplicity is a great skill. Good work!
